Denise Moser honored with President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Community Leadership Award
Washington, D.C.—The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (PCPFS) has chosen Denise Moser to receive a 2009 PCPFS Community Leadership Award. The award is given annually to individuals who improve the lives of individuals within their community by providing or enhancing opportunities to engage in sports, physical activities, or fitness-related programs.
Through founding the non-profit organization Functional Fitness 4 Kids, Inc. (FF4K) (www.FF4K.org) and her role as a middle school Health & Physical Educator, Denise has taken personal responsibility for the well-being of today’s youth. As Executive Director of FF4K, Denise has worked tirelessly to spread the organization's mission of Providing a safe, fun, and non-discriminating environment where children and adolescents can exercise, build relationships, gain nutritional information, and learn strategies to live an overall healthy lifestyle.
“We are honored to present this award to Ms. Moser says,” RADM Penelope Slade-Sawyer, acting executive director of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. “Physical activity and sports participation are an important part of living a healthy, more active life and we are pleased to recognize individuals, like Denise who are committed to making a difference and influencing the health of their communities.”
“With programs in Fairfax County, Alexandria City and Prince George’s County, Denise is single handedly changing the lives of our youth for the better, and strengthening our communities both literally and figuratively.”, reports The FF4K Board of Directors.
This year, the President’s Council presented the Community Leadership Award to 16 individuals across the country for making sports, physical activity, and fitness-related programs available in their communities.

The President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (PCPFS) is an advisory committee of volunteer citizens who advise the President through the Secretary of Health and Human Services about physical activity, fitness and sports in America. The Office of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (PCPFS), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is the HHS office containing the PCPFS Executive Director and support staff. Through its programs and partnerships with the public, private and nonprofit sectors, the Office of the PCPFS serves as a catalyst to promote health, physical activity, fitness and enjoyment for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities through participation in physical activity and sports.
